Dwight D Eisenhower

Marked: a true-chrome masterwork by Fabian Bachrach Size 14 x 18”

These fine photographs of Dwight D Eisenhower were produced in the 1940s and 1950s on a limited basis I am told. My father was a photographer from the 1920s to the 1950s, I don’t know the story of how the photographs came into his possession.

I contacted the Bachrach firm and indeed they did this work.

I was told that the portrait was shot in Black and White and appears to then have been hand colored.

These prints were produced by Harper House. Apparently Bradford Bachrach was the one who made the image. Louis Bachrach said the portraits of men were marked Fabian Bachrach, and all the women were marked Bradford Bachrach

The photo appears to be some sort of paperbacked cloth, like silk, satin or nylon. I have 2 prints, each has some water discoloration at the lower edge. I am pretty sure that it could be cleaned but, being a collector, I know better than to try that myself.
